§ 01

The Brief

Each engagement came down to improving the experience for the end user, within the deadlines and resources each client had.
"Adding more touchpoints means risking more users dropping off early, regardless of how good it is."
What I couldn't change
01 The established approach, based on the prior findings of the strategy team.
02 The established key functionalities and design system of the product being developed.
03 The target audience of the cancer NFP charity and the fundamental types of support provided.
§ 02

The Work

As this was all either client or internally confidential work, it cannot be shown directly, so each engagement has been described here instead.
I single-handedly developed the ideation for what the Global Sporting Competition could implement or change to boost membership levels and activities, mapping these ideas to previously established strategy pillars and providing recommendations internally over the level of prioritisation for each of them.
I then worked alongside a more senior team member to create a journey map to convey a user interacting with the ideal future state outcome.
Following this, I developed low-fidelity paper prototypes to convey core concepts, translating these into mid-fidelity Figma prototypes following an internal review and discussion.
UX/UI Designer
For a Global Sporting Competition - Member Experience.
Project lasting ~2 months
I supported the upcoming deliverable deadline for this project by developing the UI screens on Figma and creating potential UX flows to be explored further.
I created tickets for the GitHub repository these tools were being developed on, conveying the ideas, designs and justification to developers, to ensure a smooth delivery of the finalised product.
As I was able to bring a fresh perspective due to newly joining, I also conducted quality assurance testing of the usability and success of the product in its current form, to ensure that user testing findings could be gathered and reflected in future designs.
Product Designer
For a Proprietary Compliance Tool & an Agentic AI Tool.
Project lasting ~2 months
I conducted assessments of the current digital ecosystem, identifying and ideating opportunities for improvement, supported by market research into what has been done by other similar organisations, and presenting these findings directly to the client.
I contributed to the customer journey mapping phase of this project and its deliverables, through supporting 16 user research interviews held with service users, supporters and referrers.
DX Strategist
For a Cancer NFP Charity.
Estimated ~2 months
After establishing and demonstrating my knowledge and capabilities to apply and embed AI into my workflows to multiple highly senior individuals, I sought the opportunity to create and demonstrate resources to both exemplify this and upskill members of the business across all levels.
Non-engagement work
Application of AI.
Collectively over a period of ~7.5 months, to October 2026
§ 03

How the work gets made

The approach behind each engagement, from start to finish.
Across the work
A global sporting competition, a proprietary compliance tool and agentic AI tool, an NFP charity, and AI upskilling across Strategy & Operations.
Stage 01 · Understand
Understanding the client's goals, the work completed so far, and anything already set, from deadlines to the strategy team's pillars.
Dead end
Ideas that seemed strong at first, but did not bring enough value to justify focusing on or prioritising them.
Stage 02 · APPROACH, IDEATE & ASSESS
Ideation, with each idea assessed for the value it brings to both users and the client. When a project is already underway, this becomes reviewing and testing what is there instead, where it is both possible and feasible to implement changes.
Stage 03 · Prototype
Prototyping in a lower fidelity to save time before moving onto higher fidelity screens or outputs.
Dead end
Tailoring solutions to the availability of time and resources. Some approaches that would suit a much larger organisation may not suit or be possible for an NFP to implement with its available size and resources.
Stage 04 · Hand Over
Regardless of whether it is a value proposition, a journey map, a user flow, or a strategic approach (or some combination of them), it is important to show when and how each change would be integrated, and why they should be, to give the clients a more usable and beneficial starting point.
Kept
Designing around the end user, on every engagement.
…ready for the client to take forward.
Keep scrolling — the wall moves sideways
§ 04 — Decisions & trade-offs

An idea was only worth taking forward if it brought value to both the user and the client.

One decision from each engagement, and one from the work outside of them.

/ 04
Decision 01

Assessing every idea against the existing pillars

In relation to
UX/UI Designer for a Global Sporting Competition - Member Experience.
Chose
Conducted a value assessment of each idea, mapping the benefit to both members and the client against pillars created previously by the strategy team.
Gave up
Some ideas that were beneficial to a client were not prioritised due to being too far in the future or not addressing immediate strategic approaches.
Why
It kept the recommendations in line with the strategy already in place, and the journey map and user flow were positively received by the client.
Decision 02

Contributing immediately on an ongoing project

In relation to
Product Designer for a Proprietary Compliance Tool & an Agentic AI Tool.
Chose
Took a methodical approach of beginning with testing to familiarise myself with the existing architecture, system and solution designed.
Gave up
It took a little bit longer to be able to start contributing to designs.
Why
The release deadlines were already set, and the team needed support to meet them, and this was the most efficient way to be able to contribute.
Decision 03

Tailoring the strategy to the NFP's resources

In relation to
DX Strategist for a Cancer NFP Charity.
Chose
A digital experience strategy tailored to the NFP's sizing and resource capabilities.
Gave up
More ambitious recommendations that only a larger organisation would be able to allocate resources towards creating.
Why
A strategy the NFP could not resource would not be implemented, regardless of how good it was, which is why this was a consistent underlying thought held throughout.
Decision 04

Training material for all levels of employees

In relation to
AI training material and upskilling for the Strategy & Operations Divisions of KPMG Consulting.
Chose
Developed the AI training material and resources to be usable across all levels of employees, and for all of Australia, and delivered a live demo of it.
Gave up
Going further into advanced applications of AI that only more technical staff would need.
Why
The goal was to upskill the divisions as a whole, rather than only those already using AI tools.
§ 05

Impact so far & what I'd change

All of this was achieved in my first ~8 months at KPMG, and whilst still a graduate.
Looking back

Most of my projects followed a structure of me joining mid-way through for a specialised section or piece of work. I would be keen to develop my skills further in the future, by having more opportunities to be involved end-to-end.

Feedback Received

The feedback I have received so far in this role. Project and client names have been redacted from the feedback for privacy purposes.
Written feedback: “Noah has been a strong contributor to the [redacted] project and has demonstrated a commendable level of initiative and independence throughout the engagement. In the early phases of the project, Noah took ownership of the initial ideation of design solutions and led the mapping of ideas to strategy pillars and user benefits — work he completed largely independently before a senior team member transitioned off the project. What stood out during this period was his proactive approach: rather than waiting for direction, Noah consistently sought check-ins and guidance from senior team members to ensure his work was aligned with expectations and project goals. This kind of self-awareness and collaborative instinct is exactly what you want to see in a developing designer. Following the team transition, Noah stepped up further, taking on and delivering a range of critical UX workstreams. He progressed the value proposition from an initial draft through to a finalised output, conducted paper prototyping, and developed the journey mapping from an early draft all the way through to a final, polished deliverable complete with user flow documentation. Throughout the project, Noah has shown he is capable of working autonomously while remaining appropriately connected to the wider team. He manages ambiguity well and takes feedback constructively. He would be a valuable asset to any project team.”
Feedback provided by an Associate Director for Project 1.
Written feedback: “Noah jumped into a complex project with a steep learning curve. [redacted] has a lot of moving parts and understanding the user base takes time, but his grasp of how the concept screens connect together was really strong. What impressed me most was how he handled feedback. Whenever a problem came up, he'd workshop it and come back with something better. Always solution-focused.” “Noah was a genuinely positive presence throughout, open and always willing to engage with new information. He's going to be a great asset to the team and I'm looking forward to working together again on future projects.”
Feedback provided by a Manager for Project 1.
Written feedback: “Noah was a highly effective team member on the [redacted] CX Journey map, working well both collaboratively and independently to complete the deliverable. I would happily work with Noah again.”
Feedback provided by a Senior Consultant for Project 1.
Written feedback: “I had the opportunity to work closely with Noah for 8 weeks on the design of a particularly complex obligations feature in [redacted]. Noah is very enthusiastic and proactive. He consistently takes initiative, looks for ways to contribute, and never waits to be told what to do. One example that really stood out to me was after a call with senior stakeholders where we were discussing the progress we had made. As soon as the call ended, Noah suggested we start mapping out our plan moving forward while everything was still fresh in our minds. His first instinct was to grab a pen and paper and begin breaking down the problem and translating the discussion into actionable next steps. What impressed me most was not just his analytical approach, but his genuine enthusiasm and eagerness to get started. Noah naturally takes ownership and looks for opportunities to move things forward. Further to this, Noah was also always willing to help wherever needed, even if it didn’t align with his interests. He supported the team with manual QA activities for a client and patiently taught other team members how to complete the process. Despite it being a boring, repetitive and time-consuming task, he never complained and approached it with a positive attitude. This positive attitude and strong work ethic make him a valuable member of any team. Noah has a strong analytical mindset and thinks deeply about problems. As he continues to develop, I think he should lean further into these strengths and look for opportunities to apply his analytical thinking to solve complex challenges. ” “You have a very strong work ethic, curiosity, and willingness to learn, and that will take you far in your career. I look forward to seeing everything that you achieve in the future!”
Feedback provided by a Senior Consultant for Project 2.
Written feedback: “I've had the pleasure of working with Noah across [redacted] engagements, where he worked in a Design and BA capacity. He's been proactive and reliable throughout, and has consistently added value to the team. He's good at sharing his ideas and giving constructive feedback, and he communicates them clearly. What really stands out is his curiosity. He asks good questions to properly understand the features we're working on, and this helps him contribute meaningfully to design decisions and requirements tickets. He doesn't just focus on the immediate task either. He takes the time to understand the context behind the work, and this often lifts the quality of the wider discussion. He also works well with the people around him. Whenever he has capacity, he's happy to support others and help out where he can, and that willingness to pitch in, together with his solid work ethic and positive attitude, makes him easy to work with. Noah learns quickly and applies what he picks up, which has helped him grow across the engagements we've worked on together. I look forward to seeing Noah continue to grow, and hope to work with him again.”
Feedback provided by a Senior Consultant for Project 2.
Written feedback: “Noah consistently shows excellent initiative, taking ownership of tasks and progressing work efficiently without needing close direction. He asks thoughtful questions at the right moments, which helps him maintain momentum while ensuring alignment. He has demonstrated a high level of autonomy for his level and adapted when shifting priorities required him to lean into manual QA work. His attitude throughout has been very positive and pragmatic, which has been a real asset to the team. From a technical perspective, his skills are developing at a strong pace, particularly on the BA side. His ability to engage with requirements, interpret needs, and contribute meaningfully is improving noticeably.”
Feedback provided by an Associate Director for Project 2.
Written feedback: “Noah quickly understood the task and required very little direction. He worked independently, was resourceful, and took ownership of progressing the work without needing close guidance. He communicated clearly about his AI approach, including how he developed, tested and refined the outputs, which helped build confidence in his process. He demonstrated a strong understanding of data and insights and was able to apply this effectively to the task at hand.” “Thank you, Noah, for jumping into an ad hoc piece of work in an area that was new to you. You approached it with a positive attitude, took initiative, and delivered strong outputs with very little direction. I was impressed by how quickly you got up to speed and worked through the task independently. Hopefully we'll have the opportunity to work together again in the future.”

Written feedback: Hi Noah, as discussed here is some feedback for you. Thanks for all your contributions on the [redacted] personalisation initiative. Strengths / Positives. Independent delivery: You have demonstrated a strong ability to work independently through the workload, requiring limited day-to-day oversight. This has been appreciated and helps us progress efficiently. Good follow-through and communication: You follow up appropriately when you have questions and seek clarification, which helps align to expectations. Flexibility and team orientation: You have been flexible in working around the limited availability of others and adjust your approach accordingly. This flexibility, combined with your willingness to support team tasks, comes across as collaborative and team-oriented.
Feedback provided by an Associate Director for Personalisation work.
Written feedback: “Hi Noah, You demonstrated strong flexibility and adaptability, particularly in how you responded to partner feedback and evolving expectations. You consistently took the time to prepare for check-ins, which made conversations efficient and productive. You also managed your time well across competing priorities and were clear and proactive in communicating your availability and capacity, which made planning and collaboration easy. ”
