MRI Benchmark
Creative Design Intern - MRI Benchmark
Assessment Redefine

Overview

The purpose of this role, was to reimagine and recreate the workflow of the MRI Benchmark Startup's Asessment, to turn it into a more engaging, exciting and interactive experience for business clients.

By utilising existing design skills, experience and expertise to create something groundbreaking, leveraging design, storytelling, multimedia, interactive and upcoming

technologies.

Effective Performance

Despite initially beginning in a role that was limited to the redesign of the MRI Benchmark Assessment, due to having provided highly usable suggestions and perspectives, I have had my responisbilties extended to other aspects of the MarketCulture brand, beyond just the MRI Benchmark Assessment.

This is demonstrative of the high level and quality of output I have produced in a short time being recognised, and my drive to constantly take on additional work and opportunities to enhance my own learning and challenge myself.

Notable Benefits

Start-Up
Environment

This was an opportunity to gain professional exposure in a design focused role, in a start-up environment at the early stages of my professional career, which naturally differed quite significantly from roles in established companies and that university subjects and projects heled to prepare me for.

Broad Range
of Exposure

While a design focused role, being in a start-up environment meant I was being exposed to a wider variety of disciplines in the required work and was frequently pushed outside of my comfort zone and expertise.

This required me to constantly adapt and learn, to be able to continually perform to a high standard in this start-up environment.

Scouted

Having previously worked with one of the co-founders during the Apple Foundation Program, I was presented the opportunity afterwards to join the MRI Benchmark Start-Up on a contract, for redesigning the business's assessment and workflow.

Demonstration of
Expertise

This was a demonstration of my expertise in design related skills, and a reflection of my my overall character as an individual, including but not limited to my ability to work collaboratively and cohesively in a team environment.

Interacting with
Executives

Through weekly stand-up meetings, I would present work completed, findings, recommendations, as well as areas of struggle or difficulty, directly to executive-level leadership.

Developing a Nuanced
Understanding

This allowed me to not only develop a nuanced understanding of what considerations must be made when analysing and making decisions at higher and executive levels of a company, but also gradually allowed me to better prepare my presenations and stand-ups, towards achieving this.

MRI Benchmark Survey Assessment

Research

A primary aspect of this role was to redesign the survey used for the assessment, from which evaluations and recommendations of potential ways for companies to improve their overall level of customer experience.

To do this, I needed to first understand what was collectively viewed as elements of a survey or assessment:

- that leave a positive impression on participants
- is more likely to be completed in it's entirety by participants
- is more likely to have genuine answers provided by participants

There was also a need to research into what was collectively viewed as negative aspects of these criteria, to know what elements to avoid in the recommendations and changes I proposed, following usability testing of the existing solution

Presenting

Presenting ideas was done through weekly stand-up meetings. To effectively present, I had to summarise the results of the research and conclusions I reached, including justifying the benefits this change would bring. It was also necessary that I acknowledge the challenges or difficulties it might bring, and what long-term impacts it might cause.

Finding this balance was a new and unique experience for me, and the opportunity to learn by practically attempting this in weekly stand-up meetings was another valuable skill that I had gained through this experience.

Utilising AI & Custom GPT's

Understanding the Existing Custom Prompt's Goal and Purpose

It was first necessary for me to understand what the existig custom prompt and GPT aimed to achieve, so that suggested modifications and areas of improvement, would remain in-line with its original purpose.

Understanding Prompt Engineering Principles and Practices

Due to AI and prompt engineering principles and practices still being understood how to properly utilise it, I conducted research into how an AI and LLM like ChatGPT processes requests, and how responses are generated. This was supported by learning from talks held by experienced professionals, who work with it more closely.

Testing and Iterating to Refine Intended Output

It was necessary to repeatedly test the iterated output

This included discovering the benefit of having ChatGPT format and structure the finalised prompt itself, for it to better understand it when actioning the task in the custom GPT created.

Utilising Replit to Build a Companion Tool

Understanding the Purpose

Replit was used to build the companion web tool, that provided greater in depth analysis based on the results gathered through the MRI Benchmark assessment conducted by individuals and organisations. This web tool had the custom GPT developed integrated into it, utilising the output it produced to both supplement the value to customers, and support their understanding and application of derviced results.

This was therefore not meant to be an alternative or replacement to the existing survey and results that were previously offered and available through the platform, but instead to support it and provide additional options and results to customers.

Replit was used to ensure that perspective and input could be provided by members of the team who did not have a background or greater proficiency in coding, as well as ensuring that it remained usable and easily modifiable, if my involvement in implementing the tool were to cease or otherwise decrease.

Application of Principles

I had taken charge in implementing this as per the vision and goals of the business model the start-up was pursuing. In doing so, it was my responsibilty to take and summarise the necessary requirements and ideas discussed collaboratively, before transitioning it into a visual, interactive and presentable format.

It was also necessary for me to ensure that the applied solution incorporated relevant design principles and considerations, to ensure that it was in-line not only with the high quality of work that I have previously produced; but also with the standard of quality that the start-up business has set and maintained.
