Project Overview

This project aimed to provide a solution to the possible safety risks for people who travel to and from work in late hours of the night or after extended shifts, particularly targeted towards nurses and doctors. It would connect them with others near their location, providing them an opportunity to engage in conversation to maintain wakefulness. This would also provide an opportunity for people to connect with new people and friends. To ensure safety when driving, it would allow for integrating a navigation application, without the features of this application being intrusive on the map and navigation instructions.

To make it more engaging, there was a levelling system implemented, which would increase based on activity and completion of daily and weekly goals.

Define

In properly defining the problem and creating a solution to an existing problem faced by a targeted demographic, nurses and doctors who had their own safety at risk following long working shifts, were deemed to be an audience in need of a solution to this problem. While this prototype could be applicable and used by others driving while tired or fatigued, the defined target market of doctors and nurses was used to determine the necessary features and functionalities of this prototype being developed.

In defining the problem, one particularly important aspect was to determine exactly who the primary target audience of the product and solution the prototype was proposing was for, and how they could make use of it.

Ideate

The location and call features to pair drivers with nearby users of this application, were determined during the ideation stage. This was the primary means by which the proposed digital prototype solution would fulfil its intended purpose.

It was during the later stages of the ideation process, that the levelling and game elements were thought of and implemented, to not only increase interactivity; but also further fulfil the purpose of ensuring wakefulness and attention, from a driver using this product.

Prototype

The prototype was a proposed digital solution, that provided a solution to the defined problem faced by those such as doctors and nurses, who drove after long working hours and extended shifts, to increase their safety.

This solution was completed in an entirely digital proposal format, which allowed more opportunity to experiment with potential ideas to address the problem, through functionalities and features that would have been difficult or otherwise not possible to fully create, within the available timeframe.
